Happy Holidays for Happy Kitties!

Here’s the latest news from DP’s:

Hooray! We’ve paid off a vet bill, bought food and supplies, restocked vaccines, and purchased vaccines for future vaccine clinics, all with the money we received from generous folks like you at our annual fundraising dinner. Thank you for helping the kitties!

September Update

Things are busy as usual, have 3 new little orphans they are so darn cute, smart, sweet, yummy. :) Call them the Three Amigos. They will be heading off to their foster family Monday, wish I could keep them longer, but they will do better with a more active home. They are a much needed shot of positive, I love them all but these guys got my heart going again with what I am trying to do with DP’s. Was feeling overwhelmed and frustrated.

We are getting a BOLT automatic laser toy–it “will have your cat pouncing, chasing & batting like never before.” Thanks to Brittany and Kenny for helping us get one of these, the kitties love lasers!!!

We have ‘inherited’ more kitties, so I have to really step things up to provide for more–the vaccine clinic next weekend and the benefit dinner on Oct. 3rd have to be successes!!! Might do a clinic in Windsor and Greeley per Arun’s suggestion/request. Hopefully we can cover costs and get out of medical debt again, with more kitties more surgeries, etc… And I thought I could take it easy for a bit! :) (more…)

Spotlight on a Sponsor

Please take a minute to learn about one of our generous supporters.

The Linnea Memorial Fund made a very large and generous donation to us through their Pet Walk and Adopt-a-thon and I am extremely thankful!

Linnea was murdered on May 30, 2008 in Fort Collins, Colorado at the age of 20. Her dreams, aspirations, and goals were taken from her. She was attending Front Range Community College and was focusing on pursuing business at Colorado State University.

Linnea, even as a young child, had the compassion to adopt unwanted animals. She and her sister adopted two cats from the local shelter, and even then, she chose the older, plain, tabbies.

Linnea was heard to say, “This animal needs a home, and we have a home.” She would find homes for some of these animals, and others became a part of her family. She felt patience, compassion, nurturing, and love, would bring out the unique and individual personality of each animal. This was evident in her rescued animals:

Bentley: Beagle
Lage : Chihuahua
Desi: Cat
Kaja: Cat
Teensil: Cat (perished with her)
Her family of animals also included a turtle, various reptiles, and fish.

Linnea had also become a vegan in an effort to save the lives of more animals. Her specific views on how humans and animals should be treated were carried out in her everyday life.

Linnea was a beautiful, young woman whose voice could be heard on environmental, educational, animal, and human rights. She was making a difference to her animals, family, community and the planet.

This quote is reflective of her: “The purity of a person’s heart can be quickly measured by how they regard animals.” -Anonymous

Everything that the Linnea Memorial Fund does is a living memorial to Linnea’s beliefs.

Thanks-o-rama!

So many generous people have helped DP!

A HUGE HUGE thank you to Cindy Graves, she is our event planner for our big fundraising event on October 3 at Biaggi’s. Cindy is fabulous and her family is as well!!! If you have time to spare, Cindy needs help, committee, volunteers, sponsorships, donations… it’s gonna be BIG!

The Edward Gorey House donated 3 laser cell prints of Gorey’s art work to us, worth $150 for the silent auction at the event. THANK YOU!

We have a special needs kitty: Ching Ching had a pyometria and it was huge and about to explode and she could have gone septic and died if we did not take her in when we did. We were so lucky that Dr. Garcia at Highland Hills Pet Hospital did the surgery. She also did Gizmo’s spay and dental surgery, her mouth was beyond infected and all the teeth had to go. So a big Thank you to Dr. Garcia, Brandy, and Maressa over there!!!

Billie Colson, artist/owner of Independence Art Gallery, has already donated a pencil sketch of a beautiful cat to our event. THANK YOU! (My mom really wants this, it reminds her of our Dudley!)

Also thanks to Brittany and Kenny Oldham, just wow, they have helped so much and they baked an enormous amount of cupcakes for the bake sale and made the cutest holder for them.

Thank you, everyone! We couldn’t do it without all your love and support!
